I Recovery Stick

Suspect your partner is unfaithful? The gadget that recovers deleted text messages could confirm your worst fears

Perfect for those in a less-than-trusting relationship, this gadget can retrieve deleted text messages.

The USB stick - called the iRecovery Stick - is designed to recover information that has been wiped from an Apple iPhone.

It can also retrieve deleted contact details and even mapping solutions, which show the destinations that the phone user has visited.

Unsurprisingly, it's proving very popular with those who suspect their other half has something to hide.

Ray Couch, spokesman for manufacturer Paraben, said: 'This gadget is good for everyone from suspicious wives and husbands to girlfriends and boyfriends.

'It's also aimed at the employer who suspects foul play from a member of staff and even the police.'

The USB stick gadget works by connecting to a computer, which is, in turn, connected to the iPhone.

Once the two devices are connected, the built-in software on the iRecovery Stick retrieves the deleted data on the phone.

It can take several hours to complete the process, depending on the amount of information that is retrieved.

The gadget, which costs £199, has sparked the interest of detectives, who can use the technology to retrieve evidence that may have been deleted from a suspect's phone.

It can also be used in more mundane circumstances, such as retrieving data has been accidentally deleted, including songs on iTunes.

Mr Couch said: 'We've had a lot of interest from the American police, in particular.

'Now they can find out what their suspects have been deleting without having to call in a specialist team.'

The gadget is 'future proof', its makers promise, meaning it is designed to run with future generations of the iPhone

Tatas plan 40km/litre diesel Nano

Mumbai: Tata Motors is planning to launch a Nano model that will run 40 kilometres on a litre of diesel, matching the mileage of a typical 180cc motorcycle. It will be the most fuel-efficient car in India. The launch is expected this financial year.

Tatas plan 40km litre diesel Nano

A senior executive of Bosch India, which is helping Tata Motors develop the engine for the model, said, "We have worked with Tata Motors for Nano's petrol version and we are working with it for the diesel version too. The car has a two-cylinder, 700cc engine which develops healthy power without compromising on fuel economy. Although official test figures have not been revealed, we expect it to run 40 km on one litre of diesel."

A Tata Motors spokesperson said: "You are aware that Tata Motors continuously improves its products. But we do not provide guidance on our innovations."

At 40km/litre, the running cost of the new Nano will be Rs 1/km. The capacity of the fuel tank is expected to be 15 litres.

For Tata Motors, the diesel version could finally attract customers opting for two-wheelers - the original idea behind the Tatas' Rs 1 lakh car project. For instance, Bajaj Pulsar 180, which costs Rs 78,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), runs 40 km on a litre of petrol.

However, Bajaj Auto, too, is working on a petrol car with Renault and Nissan and aims to offer 40km/litre. The car is slated for launch in 2012.

Nano is the largest-selling Tata model in India with monthly sales of around 8,500. The country's largest selling car, Maruti Alto, records monthly sales of 25,000 a month.
