Lady Gaga rains on her own parade as she puts on wet and wild performance amid dramatic storm in New York

Lady Gaga is used to creating a storm of publicity wherever she goes.

So it seemed appropriate today that the pop diva performed to thousands of fan amidst a dramatic rainstorm.

The 24-year-old was caught in the downpour as she sang on NBC's Today Show in New York in front of around 18,000 fans at the Rockefeller Plaza.

Drenched: Lady Gaga was left soaked to the skin as she performed on NBC's Today Show at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City

But despite the adverse weather conditions the diva battled on through her set, dressed in a jumpsuit-style ensemble, split at the chest to reveal her black underwear.

The singer looked a bit of a fright after getting drenched, leaving her hair standing up on end.

But see seemed to enjoy writhing around in puddles on the stage, with the rain only adding to her lively performance.

GaGa is snippy and nippy

Lady Gaga Q

Published: 21 Feb 2010

LADY GAGA looks like she's auditioning for a part in Edward Scissorhands in her latest bizarre shoot.

The Pokerface star dressed in spiky black trousers and very little else to grace the front of this month's Q Magazine.

And the lethal looking gloves, which looked just like JOHNNY DEPP'S snippy fingers in the film, were used to protect her modesty.

Hope the tips of those gloves weren't as sharp as they looked.

Grammy Awards: The good, the bad and the frankly bizarre (yes Lady GaGa) on the red carpet

The Grammy Awards is the biggest night of the year on the music calendar when the A-listers pull out all the stops on the red carpet.

And this year's star-studded bash in Los Angeles didn't disappoint with stars including Beyonce Knowles, Lady GaGa, Pink and Taylor Swift making an impression - both good and bad - as they arrived at the bash.

Lady GaGa, who opened the awards with a performance of her mega-hit Poker Face, wore a jaw-dropping, celestial Armani Prive lilac gown with bejewelled platform heels.

Out of this world: The singer also wore a silver confection that revealed her cheeky side along with a huge spikey headpiece

She completed her typically wacky ensemble with a spiked star sculpture made of metal and two tone blonde curls.

Lady Gaga wears her craziest headgear yet... a hat made from her own hair.

She's worn lace hats, latex face masks, and even tea cups on her head. But Lady Gaga's latest headgear must be her craziest yet.

Her over-the-top hat was made of nothing more than her own hair.

The pop star wore her blonde locks splayed out and teased into the shape of a sunhat as she appeared in Las Vegas yesterday.

She was unveiled as Polaroid's new Chief Creative Officer during the Consumer Electronics Show.

The 23-year-old star announced that she will be creating fashion, technology and photography products which will hit shelves later this year.

She had earlier matched her pink lipstick to the ends of her bob cut for her guest role on U.S. reality show Launch My Line.

But when it came to offering advice to the aspiring fashion designers, Gaga left them confused.

'For me, when I'm thinking about either designing a piece or choosing a piece to wear, I think about a shape,' she said.

'If you, as a designer, your aesthetic were to walk through a wooden door, what shape would it leave?'

After telling the contestants she was a 'creative thinker' she cryptically added: 'Just because we're doing a heightened avant-garde sense of who we are, doesn't mean that we start shredding things and making giant hats. It still has to be you.'

Lady Waa Waa: Eccentric singer breaks down when presented with plaque for selling 8 million records worldwide

Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she received a plaque for selling 8 million records worldwide.

Decked in another dazzlingly weird outfit, the eccentric singer spilled her emotions after receiving the commemorative plaque at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles after the last of her three sold out performances at the venue.

Earlier in the week, she had reflected on her sudden rise to the top, saying: 'A year ago this month I was opening for Natasha Bedingfield and the New Kids on the Block - at this theatre.'

Meteoric rise: Lady Gaga reflected earlier this week on her overnight success

The singer declare herself a 'gothic Tinkerbell', in danger of dying unless her fans scream - and they have obliged during her ongoing Monster Ball world tour.

And she in turn, has put in a performance to remember - whether it's crawling on the floor in a glossy black bustier, or sleek in red vinyl and rhinestone glitter.

But strange as her routines have been, it would come as no surprise given her gig on The X Factor earlier this month, where she asked for a giant bathroom to be built onstage.

The singer's performance in LA - part of her Monster Ball tour - was as bizarrely electric as ever

The self-styled gothic Tinkerbell pulled out all the stops in this performance

In the end, she did nothing worse than cavort with a host of dancers in the huge four metre-long bath while performing her latest single, Bad Romance, but the production team behind the show had reason to be nervous.

Just a few months before, at the MTV Awards in New York in September, she had hung from the ceiling covered in fake blood after pretending to stab herself while performing her hit Paparazzi.

The 23-year-old is also notorious for performing in a conical bra that shoots out fireworks.

And back to what she does best, in her performance of 'Bad Romance'

She also recently performed at the Royal Variety show dressed as Elizabeth I - in latex

Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - is also known to insist on a closed set for rehearsals, with insiders revealing she does not want anyone to see her without her make-up on.

But there's no doubt that she's here to stay for now - and the gothic Tinkerbell's light is in no imminent danger of fading.
