Loo-py! Japanese machine turns office paper into toilet roll.

Japanese scientists have come up with an ingenious method of recycling the mountains of office paper waste - by turning it into toilet paper.

The oddly named 'White Goat' machine is 6ft-tall and weighs a hefty 94st.

It works using an automatic system that creates one new roll from 40 sheets of A4 in just 30 minutes.

The 'White Goat', a machine created by Oriental Co Ltd uses 40 sheets of A4 office paper and water to make one roll of toilet paper

Waste paper is fed into a shredder on the machine, which is then untangled and dissolved in a pulper. Any foreign matter is removed and the wet paper is thinned out and dried. Finally this is wound into toilet rolls, which emerge one at a time.

According to its manufacturer Oriental Co Ltd, White Goat could save 60 cedar trees every year and is incredibly simply to use.

The performance is the latest in a long line of promotional appearances for her album, Rated R.

Rihanna, who turns 22 later this month, has been working overtime in an effort to build up sales, which have so far been steady.

She has sold just over 571,000 copies since its release in November.

She has done considerably better than her ex boyfriend Chris Brown, who has sold around 258,000 copies of his latest release Graffiti.

Queen of pop: Rihanna reigned supreme from her favourite white throne

It has been 12 months since they were involved in a violent argument while driving home from a pre-Grammy party which left her badly battered.

RollingStone.com deputy editor Caryn Ganz told CNN:  'In the immediate aftermath of the incident, there was all of this 'dead' talk - nobody will work with him, he'll never be able to sell another record - and that's turned out to not be true.

But she noted:'Rihanna is clearly doing better than he is, both in sales figures and public reception.'

Cleaning up: Britain's oldest vacuum cleaner still going strong after 80 years

A British pensioner has laid claim to owning the country's oldest working vacuum cleaner - still sucking up dust 80 years after it was made.

While other household appliances have come and gone, Bill Whitwam's reliable Hoover Senior has stayed the distance and has never needed a part replaced.

Mr Whitwam's mother received the cleaner as a wedding present in 1929 - the year Wall Street crashed and which saw the BBC's first ever television broadcast.

After his parents passed away in the 1950s the 76-year-old inherited the cleaner, which he said was in perfect working order.

'It may be a battered old thing but it still does the job as well as when it was brand new,' he said.

'It comes from an age when things were built to last and has outworn dozens of models which have come after it.'

The retired textile manufacturer said the vacuum cleaner was his mother Phylis's pride and joy.

'I can't remember which relative bought the vacuum or how much it cost, but it must have been a generous wedding gift because in those days hardly anyone had one,' he said.

'I guess that's why you can see all those old photographs of housewives beating their carpets on the washing line.

'When I was growing up mum was always incredibly proud of her Hoover. I remember her saying it was the one to have.'

The pensioner uses his skills learnt as a Royal Signals technician in his early-20s to maintain his vintage vacuum.

'I can honestly say its never needed a new working part. The only work I've had to do is rewire it, and I had to do that when plugs went from two to three prongs,' he said.

'It has a perfectly working foot lever which alters it from its normal 45 degree angle to almost horizontal.

The model is among 20 vacuum cleaners in Mr Whitwam's collection - some dating back to the start of the 20th century.

'One of them is more than 100 years old and I was once told that it was the same model used to keep the carpets clean on the Titanic,' he said.

'Friends had always joked about my Hoover and one day I was given an old one to keep it company. Then more just kept arriving. I've quite a collection now.'

'A lot of them I've restored and every now again I put them through their paces just to make sure they are in good working order.'

Pamela Anderson wears a very LBD as she shows off her fashion range at nightclub... but only 20 people turn up

With a new fashion line to plug, Pamela Anderson is hoping to get as much publicity as possible.

But despite showcasing the designs in a chic Miami nightclub and arriving in the tiniest of little black dresses, the actress's fashion show failed to bring in the crowds last night.

The former Baywatch star, 41, was left red-faced when only 20 people were there to greet her as she turned up to the Play venue to watch her A*Muse fashion show.

Anderson arrived wearing a black mini-dress with plunging neckline and asymmetrical hemline.

The $25-a-head event had been advertised as a club night and fashion show co-hosted by Anderson and her designer pal Richie Rich.

Fans willing to pay between $20,000 and $50,000 for the 'Penthouse package' hire of the VIP Penthouse Room at the club were offered the chance to party with Anderson after the show.

The disappointing turnout marked the latest event in Anderson and Rich's nightclub tour of the U.S., promoting their A*Muse line.

Raunchy: Anderson appeared topless in the fliers for the club night

Anderson has thrown herself behind the project after splitting from electrician boyfriend Jamie Padgett a few weeks ago. The couple had dated for just over a year.

A source told the American edition of OK! magazine: 'Pam made it pretty clear she is no longer dating Jamie and that she was looking for a new love interest.

'She didn’t have anything bad to say about him and described him as a "sweet guy" and that she hoped they would remain friends.'

Anderson and Padgett started dating last year after meeting at Malibu's Cove Trailer Park, where the star moved after building work forced her out of her home.

But after three failed marriages behind her, it's unlikely Anderson will be moping about after the split.

In a recent interview, she admitted she's made some mistakes, but would keep on trying.

She told Marie Claire: 'I've had lots of things that didn't work out, like TV shows. You learn a lot through mistakes - I learned that you have to be the captain of your ship. Actually, I own my ship.

'People always tell me, "Reinvent yourself, re-this, re-whatever." I haven't reinvented myself. It's an honest evolution. I've always been authentic. Except for the boobs.'
