Former prison officer Kelly-Anne McDade faces jail after having an affair - and a baby - with inmate
A former prison warder who gave birth to a baby after having sex with a 'dangerous' inmate in his cell, was told today she faces jail.
Kelly-Anne McDade, 30, had a series of trysts with 18-year-old burglar Nelson Delgado while he was serving a sentence at a young offenders' institute.
The single mother breached security and put other officers at risk by sneaking into Delgado's cell while she was supposed to be working.
McDade was suspended after her secret liaisons at Aylesbury Young Offenders' Institute were exposed but less than nine months later she had given birth to the convicted criminal's son.
The former prison worker appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court today and admitted misconduct in a professional or public office.
She also pleaded guilty to bringing prohibited articles, three mobile phones, into Swinfen Hall Young offenders institute in Staffordshire when visiting Delgado after he was moved there.
The former warder was warned that she could expect a custodial sentence by Judge Christopher Tyrer.
He described her affair as a serious offence and said there would be every likelihood she would be imprisoned.
The court heard how McDade, who was supported at court by six friends and family members, began the affair in February 2008 and was suspended after it was discovered.
She gave birth to a boy on February 20 this year and named Delgado, a Portuguese national. as the father on the birth certificate.
The labourer was being held at the prison after a 'drink and drug-fuelled attack' more than two years ago.
During the burglary, Delgado and a knife-wielding accomplice, attacked a couple in their own home, hitting a woman over the head with a bottle and asking her if she had ever been raped.
Delgado, who was 18 at the time, was sentenced to serve 32 months before being considered for parole.
The judge at his trial told Delgado he would be on licence for the rest of his life because he is considered to be dangerous.
McDade, was today granted conditional bail and will be sentenced on November 13.
She will also be sentenced for possession of cannabis at the same time, after pleading guilty to the offence at a previous hearing at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court last month.
