How Facebook changed dating

The dating game was never easy to begin with and thanks to Facebook, it just got tougher. Not only is your relationship publicised but it could get damaged too thanks to it and this is how a perfectly good relationship can start flaking up:

Notifications galore

The problem with facebook is that everybody knows everything! Because even if you’re not friends with people, you’ll still get notifications about them commenting on a picture of someone/something. And it gets even worse when your get a notification that some random girl commented on your boyfriend’s hot picture and liked it too.

No privacy

Every relationship needs space and Facebook gives you anything but that. There’s a 10/10 chance that your partner has stumbled (read: snooped) across a post from your ex-boyfriend or even an old college or work friend and found it inappropriate. He then gives you flak about it later on or even comments on the post.

New age romance

This is probably one of the worst things about Facebook - it turns your love life into a virtual romance. It’s annoying when your boyfriend posts a happy anniversary message instead of calling you, or sends you virtual flowers or teddy bears instead of giving you real ones. And to top it off, he sends you virtual gifts - like a diamond ring - on FB that makes you say ‘yeah right, go buy one’ in your head.

Slap and kiss

For every break up, you end up changing your relationship to single and some cute guy comments on the fact that he’s happy that you’re single and your ‘ex’ happens to see it! Not only that, your love life is like an open book, because your relationship status keeps changing and everyone can see it. And to make matters worse, everyone can see your wall posts to each other when you’re fighting or mushy!

Obsessive, compulsive behavior

Oh yes, that’s what FB does to you, it’s addictive. And you can’t help checking your boyfriend’s wall every five minutes. And you end up going through all his old albums or pictures where his ex was tagged and you can’t stop, and you find yourself starting to get annoyed with him even thoug he didn’t do anything.

Tag you’re it

You know that night out painting the town red with your girlfriends when your boyfriend was out of town, and tequila shots and a hangover later on… you realise you’ve been tagged in pictures of you dancing with the stripper! Oh damn!
Keep in mind that facebook is a social networking site and keep it at that. Don’t update your status with your relationship problems and give each other space and don’t spam his wall with ‘I love you baby’ ten times in a day! Everyone gets that you’re in a relationship, don’t go on and on.
Why not leave us a comment and let us know if you had any experiences similar to this when facebooking.
